Beginning the School Year... First Week Activities

I made a printable document about some of the procedures I cover, cooperative learning activities, and getting-to-know-you activities for the first week of school. It is not completely comprehensive, not expounding on much, but it's a general framework and it works. This 13-page document also printables of my procedure scripts my students perform on the second day! Enjoy! Grab it here. Hope it helps a bit with your first week!

    1. Thank you! My class had loads of fun with the scripts last year! I realized I left "Jasztalville" on one of them, though, but one can use Wite-Out and put in the grade level or class name instead. - Victoria

  2. Wow, this is awesome! I love all the activities and scripts! The scripts would be great to film. I wish I had a week to review procedures and expectations. I had two days! Tomorrow we start with instruction.

    2. Oh, and p.s. Keep going over those procedures and expectations as you instruct. If I have to do it for three weeks, I will... I really want to get my students used to everything and have it ingrained in their memory.

  4. Hello Victoria...
LOVE your site. I have been following you since last summer.

I have a question- I teach 5th grade in Florida and would love to use your mimi lessons you posted under POST 3 on August 10th. My question is how to i do these lessons AND follow the reading curriculum I have for the class. We use Harcourt storytown. THANK YOU for any direction you can give me! I LOVE these lessons and think kids will love them as well!

  5. Thanks so much victoria. I feel much better going into a fourth grade classroom after being a specialty teacher for the last four years and teaching grade 1 before. Your site will be my go to this year. Thanks again!
